Job Description W 2 Mechanic Position Title: Mechanic (W 2 Employee) Department: Maintenance Reports To: Director of Maintenance Employment Type: Full Time, W 2 Position Summary The Mechanic is responsible for performing skilled maintenance and repair work on company equipment, vehicles, and assets in accordance with safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and company policies. This role ensures the reliability, safety, and performance of the fleet while supporting daily operational needs through timely diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs. Key Duties & Responsibilities Maintenance & Repair • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel and/or gasoline engines, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, transmissions, refrigeration units (if applicable), and related components. • Complete preventive maintenance (PM) inspections and services on schedule. • Conduct DOT and OSHA compliant inspections and repairs. • Identify and document equipment conditions, repair needs, and parts requirements. • Test repaired equipment to ensure proper function and safety compliance. Work Order & Documentation • Accurately record labor hours, parts usage, and repair notes on work orders. • Ensure all repair orders are completed correctly, legibly, and in a timely manner. • Follow company procedures for parts requests, warranty processing, and asset tracking. Safety & Compliance • Maintain a clean, safe work environment following OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company safety standards. • Use proper PPE and follow established safety procedures at all times. • Report hazards, unsafe equipment, or incidents immediately. Tools, Equipment & Shop Support • Properly use and maintain shop tools, diagnostic equipment, and specialty tools. • Assist with road calls and emergency repairs when required. • Support team members and contribute to a positive, productive shop environment. Qualifications Required • High school diploma or GED. • 2+ years of experience as a diesel, automotive, or fleet mechanic. • Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills. • Ability to read and interpret manuals, diagrams, and repair instructions. • Valid driver s license. • Ability to lift lbs, work in various weather conditions, and stand/walk for extended periods. Preferred • CDL (Class A or B). • ASE Certifications (T-Series or A-Series). • Experience with fleet maintenance software. • Welding or fabrication experience.
