The Position
The Bindery & Finishing Technician will work in a busy commercial printing operation producing a wide variety of printed products, including brochures, booklets, catalogs, direct mail, marketing materials, manuals, publications, and other commercial print work.
We're looking for someone who understands bindery and finishing and is comfortable moving between different pieces of equipment depending on the production schedule.
This is not just a general helper position. We're looking for people who can set up, adjust, troubleshoot, and operate production equipment while maintaining quality and productivity.
Equipment & Responsibilities
Depending on your experience, you may set up and operate equipment including:
- Guillotine/Paper Cutters
- Folders
- Saddle Stitchers
- Perfect Binders
- Collators
- Booklet Makers
- Drills and Punches
- Laminators
- UV Coaters
- Creasing and Scoring Equipment
- Die Cutting Equipment
- Shrink Wrapping and Packaging Equipment
- Other automated bindery and finishing machinery
Typical responsibilities include:
- Completing equipment setups and changeovers
- Reading job tickets and understanding finishing specifications
- Setting cutters, folders, stitchers, binders, and related equipment
- Checking folds, trim, pagination, stitching, binding, and overall quality
- Making adjustments during production
- Troubleshooting mechanical and production issues
- Maintaining production speeds while minimizing waste
- Performing routine operator and preventative maintenance
- Completing required production and quality documentation
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Working closely with Press, Digital, Mailing, Shipping, and Production teams
Experience We're Looking For
Candidates should have 12+ years of commercial printing bindery or finishing experience and hands-on experience operating multiple pieces of production equipment.
Experience with equipment from manufacturers such as:
Polar MBO Stahl Heidelberg Muller Martini Horizon Standard Duplo Challenge Wohlenberg Perfecta Similar Commercial Bindery Equipment
You do not need experience with every machine listed.
We're particularly interested in people who have become the versatile person in the binderythe operator who can move from one machine to another, handle setups, solve problems, and help keep production moving.

If you're strong on two or three pieces of bindery equipment and want to become a more well-rounded technician, paid cross-training is available.
Experienced Bindery Assistants who have been helping with setups and are ready to operate equipment independently are also encouraged to apply.
The company is additionally interested in experienced Lead Bindery Operators, Bindery Leads, Finishing Leads, and Bindery/Finishing Supervisors who may be ready for their next opportunity.
