Practice Setting and Clinical Scope

The role is based in a bustling hospital setting where you will focus on all aspects of diagnosis, staging, precision medicine, symptom management, and treatment of hematology and oncology patients. You will oversee both the Oncology/Hematology clinic and Infusion Services, ensuring the highest standards of care. The Infusion Center provides a range of treatments, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood and platelet transfusions, hormone therapy, and more. Expect to manage a patient volume of 15-20 cases per day, covering all tumor types.

Schedule and Assignment Details

This locum position requires availability for weekday clinic hours from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with night calls from Monday to Thursday, 5 PM to 8 AM. Weekend call is remote, starting Friday at 5 PM through Monday at 8 AM. Coverage is needed for select weeks from October through December, offering a predictable schedule that supports professional stability and flexibility.

Support and Work Environment

You will be supported by a robust team, including one clinic RN, two medical assistants, two front office clerks, one quality analyst/billing specialist, and ten infusion RNs. The EMR systems in use are iKnowmed for clinic operations and Cerner for infusion services, facilitating efficient and coordinated patient care.

Qualifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Oncology or Hematology.
  • California Medical License required.
  • Fellowship in Oncology or Hematology is required.
  • DEA certification is mandatory, with ACLS certification required for those requesting moderate sedation privileges.
