POSITION TITLE: Software Engineering Manager(s). POSITION DUTIES: Lead and manage a team of engineers that build services for a well-defined exchange domain. Collaborate with Software Engineering Manager colleagues that run teams from other exchange and clearing domains. Architect distributed systems with high availability, performance, scalability, and security. Review code developed by the engineers on the team and provide feedback to ensure adherence to best practices (e.g., style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency). Mentor team members from hiring through performance management and reviews via coaching and developing the talent and skill set of the engineers. Lead incident reviews to identify and implement prevention ideas that ultimately reduce the number of incidents. Run the teams agile process, including capacity management and long-term planning. May telework consistent with company policy. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Masters degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 12 months of experience in the job offered or in a related software engineering occupation. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 1) leading or managing software engineers; 2) architecting distributed systems for high availability, performance, scalability, and security; 3) conducting code reviews for style, accuracy, testability, and efficiency; 4) mentoring engineers through performance management and coaching; 5) leading incident reviews to identify prevention measures; and 6) running Agile processes, capacity management, and long-term planning.
