Forge Hammer Helper

Pay Range: $20.36hr - $25.36hr Job Overview: The Forge Hammer Helper I is responsible for assisting in the forging process by moving and handling metal parts across workstations, setting up hole punching operations, operating machinery including cranes and forklifts, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Responsibilities: Transfer and lift metal parts to and from workstations such as furnace, hammer, and anvil using pick ups or manipulator. Place punches on parts to set up hole punching operations. Rotate, turn, and flip parts during the hammer operation using shears, bolsters, and levers to move parts. Remove scale from work piece and dies using a broom. Mark material with specified information using a metal stamp and sledge hammer. Use graphite, coal, and other lubricants throughout the forging process. Measure rough and finished parts with measuring tools to ensure fit in the ring roller. Conduct set-up of sizing equipment. Operate overhead crane. Operate forklift and manipulator, and refuel with propane. Grind surfaces of finished parts using portable and stationary power grinders. Maintain clean work area and perform general housekeeping. Demonstrate understanding and knowledge of organizational procedures and work instructions. Maintain a safe and organized workstation while following all organizational policies and safety procedures. Skills/Knowledge: High school diploma or GED and 6 to 12 months of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to team members and other employees of the organization. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to access and operate a forklift and other powered industrial equipment to approved OSHA standards. Physical Requirements(Due to nature of job, The candidate must have): Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to walk. Ability to sit. Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Ability to reach with hands and arms. Ability to talk or hear. Ability to climb or balance. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Ability to lift 50 lbs or more.
